/////////////////////// SHORT REVIEW
About the Story: Charlie Bumpers is sure he does not stand a chance of getting along with his fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Burke, and despite his best efforts to be neat and well-behaved, he always seems to be in trouble, until he discovers Mrs. Burke’s secrets.
What I Think: I like Charlie Bumpers vs the Teacher of the Year. Mr. Harley’s writing is clear and concise. The humor will tickle young funny bones. Charlie trudges forth on his first day of fourth grade, sure his teacher, Mrs. Burke, hates him. I like the short chapters, which are great for reluctant readers, or for bedtime reading. Charlie Bumpers vs the Teacher of the Year is a great series for boys, but girls will enjoy the genuine fourth grade interactions. Mr. Harley, a Grammy Award-winning musician has written a song for this new series of early readers. You can hear it HERE! The first chapter of the second book, Charlie Bumpers vs. the Really Nice Gnome, is included at the back.
