“Here’s a bright red sled
on a snowy day.
Where are the bears
to come out and play?

“The little bears are ready to play in the snow. But, uh-oh, their sled is too small! It’s not as fun sledding when they can only go two at a time. What can they use to carry them all? Luckily, Big Brown Bear has an idea.” [INSIDE JACKET]

Review
Bears in the Snow will easily entertain young children ready for winter and its games to begin. Cute as, well, four little bears, the story exceeds in joy and everyday fun. Their bright red sled—looking like an original red flyer—cannot hold all four little bears at once. Forget about adding Big Brown Bear to the load. The sled is simply too small. The bears do not like the situation so the four try riding the sled together, bunched up as tight as they can get. But, one by one . . .

Big Brown Bear thinks quickly on his feet—or rather, his belly—and the sloth of bears are sliding safely down the hill as one.
9780763681487_il_1_d0698The acrylic illustrations give young readers four adorable little bears, all a different color (pink, blue, yellow, and light brown), each wearing different warm-weather gear (mittens, hat, boots, and scarf—red and white candy cane striped). Little ones desiring to emulate these little bears will need to be all four at once, or have lenient parents who allow hats but not mittens; boots but no scarf. Big Brown Bear needs no winter wear. I love the yellow bear’s snow angel and the heavy, sticky-looking snow falling in all the outdoor spreads. The colorful images are humorous and enjoyable. with the three colorful bears dotting the landscape in play.
9780763681487_il_2_d6997This sibling rivalry-less story, and its lilting rhymes, makes the outdoor adventure an enjoyable read-aloud, perfect for pre-nap storyhours or bedtime reading. These little bears have quite the expressive faces for only having black dots for eyes. They could be any little kid wanting to join the other bears kids for some outdoor fun. This humorous afternoon in the sun and snow—a typical winter day for many young children—will be a hit with little sledding bears of all colors.
